How Rental Costs Are Calculated
If I pick up my rental vehicle at 4.00pm
on a Friday and drop it back before
4.00pm on the following Friday, is this
counted as a 7 day hire?
Yes, our hire rates are calculated on a
24 hour basis.
When do I have to pay the vehicle hire
cost?
With our rental cars the amount of hire
needs to be paid prior to pick up. As
our rental trucks and rental vans have
mileage fees, the hire fee including
mileage will need to be paid at drop
off, unless arranged otherwise.
Short Hire Refunds
Is there a refund if I bring my hire
vehicle back early?
There is no refund if you return your
vehicle earlier than the reserved
period of hire.
Driver’s Licence
Do I need a special licence to drive a
Rent Me Rentals vehicle?
No. As long as you are over 21 years
of age and hold a current valid driver’s
licence, your country of origin licence
is acceptable. A normal car licence is
all that is required to drive our cars,
vans, utes and all but one of our trucks.
A heavy vehicle licence is required for
our biggest truck.
No maximum age limit applies providing
an appropriate valid licence is held by
the hirer.
Non–English licence holders must
carry an accurate English translation
of their licence or an International
Driving Permit while driving. The
English translation document must be
issued by one of the following
authorities:

drivers?
No, Rent Me Rentals encourages you
to register more than one person to
share the driving for safety reasons.
Breakdown Service
Do you have a breakdown service?
Yes, all our rental vehicles are
registered with AA breakdown service.
All you need to do is call the 0800
phone number which is located on the
card in each vehicle’s glove box and
an AA technician will attend to you.
Please note: Our vehicles are all
regularly serviced by A Grade
Automotive.
Fuel
Do I have to pay for petrol or diesel?
Each rental vehicle has a full tank of
fuel prior to your hire. You pay for your
fuel costs during your hire and the
vehicle must be returned with a full
tank at the end of your hire. Rent Me
Rentals will advise you if your vehicle
requires petrol or diesel.
Road User Tax
Does Rent Me Rentals charge for the
Road Users Tax (Diesel Tax)?
No, this is included in your vehicle hire
fee.
Insurance Excess
Can I reduce the amount of excess I
pay?
Yes, If you pay NZ$10.00 per day of
hire, it is possible to reduce the
insurance from $1000.00 to $500.00.
