Not too many years ago, Paraparaumu was known
primarily as a holiday location for Wellingtonians
wanting a weekend break. These days Paraparaumu
is a thriving community with predominantly full-time
residents including many retirees.

Paraparaumu is popular for its fabulous natural beach
promenade lined with some excellent cafés. To the
east past Paraparaumu Airport and adjacent to State
Highway One is Coastlands Shoppingtown, the fifth
largest shopping mall in New Zealand.

hand milk a cow. Lindale has an a farm yard, and a
number of paddocks providing an opportunity for
people to mingle with, feed, and pet lambs, chickens,
ducklings, calves, kids, pigs, and rabbits. On a walk
around the farm you'll see a variety of sheep, cattle
and goats, deer, llama, alpaca and emu.

Lindale is a great place for lunch or a coffee and a
stroll around the boutique shops offering gifts,
souvenirs, art, candy, olives, wine and honey. Sample
a full range of Kapiti Cheeses, including gold
medal-winning Aorangi and Kikorangi. Finish your
Lindale experience with a yummy Kapiti Ice Cream.

Another two minutes north by rental car is the
Southward Car Museum. On your wander around the
Southward Car Museum you'll see a selection of
vehicles from one of the largest and most
comprehensive privately owned collections of veteran
and vintage cars in the Southern Hemisphere.
The 6,000 square metre display changes regularly
and includes rare vehicles like the 1915 Model T Ford,
a 1981 De Lorean Sport Car and a 1895 Benz. The
Southward Car Museum is in Otaihanga Road
Paraparaumu.
